Welcome to the Ray Berg Open Space, a treasure in Gleneagle. We hope all of you find time to walk the trails, meet new friends and all the dogs that enjoy the spectacular views of the mountains.

Gleneagle Civic Association Picnic:
We would like to thank Jimmy and Lisa Owenby for organizing the first GCA picnic on the RBOS. It was held on August 14th at the Pauma Valley pavilion. It was a huge success and everyone enjoyed Bird Dog BBQ, drinks and side dishes. Bounce houses were a real hit with the children. Sound system was furnished by Mark Connell. Thank you to all our volunteers who set up the tables and tents. Tractor rides were enjoyed by many of the children. Bruce Randall brought the tractor and all the implements for everyone to see what is used to maintain the open space.

Mowing:
The third mowing of the open space has been completed. The rainfall that occurred in late May and early June caused some erosion problems which are being addressed. Due to the wet spring, several of the paths have been overtaken with weeds. The tractor is being used with the grading scraper implement to scrape the weeds off of the paths. This process will be completed by the end of the week. Also, big thank you to our weed eating volunteers who assist with weed cutting in areas that cannot be mowed with the tractor.

Trail Construction:
Trail construction continues with the use of the tractor and dump trailer. Volunteers help build the trails using the piles of road base located throughout the open space. After the gravel is laid, the tractor is then used to level the trail. The 2nd, 15th, and 14th sections are currently being built.

Dead Tree Removal:
Volunteers helped with dead tree removal slash on the 5th, 6th, 7th, 11th, and 14th sections of the open space over the summer. Without our dedicated volunteers, this clean up would not be possible.

Poop Stations:
Eight poop stations are located throughout the open space for your convenience in cleaning up after your pet. These stations are maintained by 3 volunteers.

Lastly, volunteers are always welcome and needed to assist on the open space, visit Email Us (General Inquires)

Glenn and Bruce

Did you mean August, 2021 or NEXT YEAR?

I was not invited to the picnic?
